It’s been a while since I’ve written a post. Just taken a few weeks off to re-group and get ready for the new year.
I love helping women discover their own personal styles, especially when their eyes light up! People who are dramatics or artsy are thrilled to understand how to present themselves in a range of work and social settings.
What about individuality and conforming to societal norms? Can you be yourself and meet people’s expectations at the same time?
Some people choose to express themselves through tattoos and piercings, for example, which are becoming more mainstream. But, before getting something like this, it’s important to understand how it will affect you in a range of work and social settings.
You can have a pierced eyebrow, for example, but you may want to take the piercing out when you’re going to an important client meeting.
Tattoos are a great way to express your personality, but sometimes need to be covered so that they don’t distract from the occasion.
Before you get tattoos or piercings, take a moment to picture yourself in the following situations. You may reconsider placement to give you the greatest flexibility.
- On your wedding day
- In court (as a juror?)
- Meeting your significant other’s parents
- At a funeral
- At a job interview
If you think that your tattoo or piercing may impact how people perceive you, you might want to think about where and what you get done. It’s about choosing what you share, with whom and when.
